The Nairobi Convention Secretariat is pleased to share with you the draft documents of the final negotiations meetings which include: the text of the draft Protocol for the Protection of the Western Indian Ocean Marine and Coastal Environment from land-based sources and activities; as well as the text of the amended Nairobi Convention for the Protection, Management and Development of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the Western Indian Ocean Region.

We encourage you to provide us your contributions to enable us 'clean up' the documents in preparation for their adoption by the Conference of Plenipotentiaries and Conference of Parties, respectively.

The Secretariat has embarked on the process of organising the Conference of Plenipotentiaries (to adopt the draft LBSA Protocol) and the 6th Conference of Parties (to adopt the amended Nairobi Convention, among others). Kindly send your comments on the documents to the Secretariat before 3 July, 2009
