The Data and
Information Management Section of the Division of Early Warning and
Assessment of the United Nations Environment Programme is a strong advocate
of standards-based
service
interoperability through Open Web
Services and Systems. UNEP/DEWA/DIMS promotes and makes extensive use
of
open source software to implement open web services as a necessary part
of its assessment activities. These include web map services, web
feature services, wikis and other content management systems and
collaborative workspaces, and a variety of database applications.
